Yoga Therapy/Ayurveda

What is yoga therapy?

Health is the perfect functioning of all body organs with the intelligent control of the mind. The mind needs to be alert and focused.

In yoga, the practitioner may start with the asanas (poses). As the external body reduces the movements through breath, the mind follows. When the mind slows down, it gives room for mindfulness that leads to self esteem buildup, calmness, reduced stress, flexibility, strength, toned muscles, increased vitality and strong body. Chances of contracting illnesses are reduced or minimized resulting in a happy and healthy yogi.

What is ayurveda therapy?

Ayurveda is the natural healing system dating back to 3000 B.C. It comes from the Sanskrit of two words “Ayu” which means life and “Veda” which means knowledge or science giving the definition of “Science of Life”. The word “ayu” does not denote age as commonly understood but it embraces the specific meaning that life is the combination of body, sense organs, mind and soul.

Ayurveda is the spiritual sister of yoga. The sadhana (practitioner) understands that the body is the instrument to his/her overall well being by understanding (and providing) what the body needs beyond exercise and food.
